Individual Counseling
Is appropriate for kids who have issues or difficulty at school, at home, or in the community. During appointments, the counselor helps you talk about and work on your reason for coming to counseling. The goal of counseling is to help you learn that you have the power to change how you think, feel and/or behave. Once you learn this fact, the counselor will help you identify when and how to apply your power during your life.
Family Counseling
Is most appropriate if our family is having difficulty as a unit. Counseling of this nature is used to promote better relationships and understanding among the family unit. Additionally this modality is used when one or more family member have an issue that negatively affects the family (i.e., mental illness, substance abuse, or delinquent behaviors). The counselor will provide diverse structured interventions/strategies and use experiential activities designed to promote cohesion and improved functioning within the family unit.
Group Counseling
Is similar to Individual Counseling. However, there is a difference. The counselor meets with several kids in a small group to talk about issues they have in common. Groups may focus on different topics such as:
How do I control my anger?
My parents got divorced!
Why am I sad?
Why do I have a hard time focusing?
No one wants to be my friend!
How to make friends and keep them?
I’m new to this school and I am scared?
How can my brother or sister and I get along?
Educational Consulting
Includes consulting services that provide parents with information, guidance, support and an objective evaluation that addresses their child’s psychological wellbeing & educational abilities. Services include the development of an educational plan that addresses dysfunctional and other problematic behavior. Please note: Insurance does not pay for this service unless your child has a disorder that negatively affects his/her education.
